Due to the lack of pumpkins grown on both mine and my Dad’s plot this year we decided to go on a family pumpkin hunt to the local pick your own farm 20 minutes away from our home. The whole family was down including my sister, her partner and her son as well as my brother, his wife and their son… So off we went on a pumpkin hunt with the radio flyer in tow!
It was a gloriously sunny, crisp Autumn day and Pickwell Farm was absolutely heaving! We walked past the lovely little farm shop and followed the arrows to the pumpkin patch where we were greeted by rows and rows of Winter greens, kale, brussel sprouts, raspberry canes, leeks and there were even strawberries still available to pick! My nephew pulled the radio flyer to one of two pumpkin patches and we started the search for 4 perfect pumpkins.
We settled on a pumpkin for each little family and loaded the radio flyer with our picks (once we had removed all the ones my Nephew had already filled the trolley with!) Then it was off to pay for the pumpkins at the kiosk and to marvel at all the different shapes and sizes they had for sale in the farm shop.
Today was just perfect (although it was missing someone in particular!) and I felt so at home on the farm. I could have stayed there all day in the sunshine exploring the different crops they were growing and I will definitely visit again!

Looks like so much fun! Your nephew is adorable with his superhero cape! <3
It was a perfect day and I’d go again! He is super adorable and I’m so glad he loves the cape I made him a couple of years ago 🙂
They don’t seem very elusive.
Happy Halloween! (Do you celebrate Halloween?)
Happy Halloween to you too! We do celebrate it over here but not quite as much as the Americans… we carved a pumpkin and that’s about it 🙂
I didn’t have much success with my pumpkins either, picked the wrong spot and could only harvest one unriped pumpkin. Found a nice pumpkin in a healthfood shop in Gothenburg.
We live and learn don’t we, plus there’s always next year 🙂
