About

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. My name is Katie Lane and I am currently 25 years of age. I love to grow and cook things and if you don’t find me up the allotment then I will be behind the sewing machine or sitting on the sofa with a cross stitch in hand!

Let’s just say that gardening runs in the family to a certain extent, my Dad has his very own allotment, my grandparents grew vegetables in their back garden and my great grandparents also grew and made their own produce. However, I can honestly say that I have only  been an allotmenteer for a mere 2 years. My Dad got his own plot back in 2011 and my fingers officially turned green (not literally though!) I put my name down on the list a year after and here I am with my very own bit of land.

I would also like to mention that I am old at heart, if that makes sense? I love the wartime era, the fashion of the 1940′s, the simple way of life and the hard graft that to be honest, we don’t often see nowadays. For me the allotment is an escape from tecnology and the noise of modern day life, to work hard, grow something from scratch and serve it up for dinner is truely satisfying and for some reason even tastier and more rewarding!

I hope you enjoy reading about my adventures and antics on plot 15C. Please feel free to message me any tips, hints and general friendly chit chat :)

I’m also a little bit in love with your shed, I have a bit of a ‘thing’ for allotment sheds! Lovely blog, I’m going to try your recipe for Chard quiche, I love growing it but haven’t given much thought to cooking with it as such. Have a great gardening weekend, Karen x

Thank you, I wish it was bigger but I had to leave some room for growing things! Chard is also nice just steamed but it gets a little boring and plus the quiche recipe is very yummy The weather is going to be glorious this weekend so I will pratically be living up the lottie trying to get it ready for Spring! Have a lovely weekend too

Hello! Lovely blog, and I too have serious shed envy. Not least because this winter the roof has come off mine and so it’s in serious need of some TLC. I’ve just realised that I’ve had my allotment for eight years! Time has flown. It’s been a lot of fun and lots of learning. Good luck with your site and your blog, I shall continue to read with interest

Your blog is awesome. And I am also in love with your shed!
Hope you have a great gardening year. It is nice to see that Spring has arrived in some parts of the world. I may have to pick up a packet of Cosmos seeds now. Thanks for the inspiration.

Just watched your videos and loved them. I am a huge ‘Back to basics’ person. If you have not already then do some research on ‘Richard (Dick) Proenneke’

I have my own garden allotment and love it, if I am not working I am down there! Keeps me out of trouble!

I think you might like my website, it was what started out as a hobby years ago and now forms part of my work.

Anyway, I have liked you on FB and Subscribed on Youtube so hope to keep up with your videos and Blog x

    Take Care

    Hi Katie,

I just stumbled upon your youtube channel and blog yesterday and watched all videos in one go. You have made that plot look so beautiful and the shed is adorable, especially that vintage kitchen buffet. I am looking forward to more posts and videos. Just started my own balcony garden experiment and it has become my morning ritual to check on my plants. Best of luck with your garden and the veg in it.

    Cheers from another “old heart”.

I stumbled across your blog through Instagram, such an inspiration (and yes, a beautiful shed!) I’m helping my mum out with her allotment, we’ve only had it a month or so. I shall be taking notes!

You’re welcome! It is, yes. Everyone seems really friendly and full of advice and tips. Apparently my mum used to take me along to her allotment when I was a kid but I was too young to remember much! Just been putting up the fence and making some raised beds so far, only got a few leeks and some kale growing. Planning and prepping for next year though!
