I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that gets excited about gardening, but I am 100% sure that my allotment neighbours might think I’m a little bit crazy!
Off I cycled up the allotment yesterday morning to spend the day photographing products for our new shop when upon entering my gate I noticed some colourful little blooms in my trough. The tulips have started to bloom! I couldn’t quite conceal my excitement and decided that this special occasion called for a little tulip dance and song, only to later notice that I wasn’t alone on my allotment site. Oh well, you only live once after all and I’ve been waiting for these tulips to bloom for ages!
I really can’t wait until they are all fully in bloom though, it’s going to look so beautiful and the bees are going to love them. I really do need to make some sort of structure to go around the outside of my trough, it was very windy yesterday and I was worried that once the tulips grow taller they might be in trouble of snapping in the wind. I am so chuffed that I decided to fill the trough with tulips instead of tomatoes, even though the blooms will only last for a few weeks it is going to look pretty and sure makes me happy.

Wow! Beautiful! I can totally understand you doing a happy dance!
Keep singing and dancing Katie, spring is a time for celebrating! I’m pretty sure my neighbors have caught me in mid glee more than once.
Hi, Katie. Like the photos of your tulips – very professional! I always have a few popping up even though I have never planted the bulbs. A friend of mine works at a well known DIY store and brings me loads of bags of “old” plants. The plants go into the compost bin and the “soil” goes wherever it’s needed. However, some live stuff does get through and every year we have lots of strange plants popping up in weird places which I have not planted or sown. Certainly makes for interesting conversation!
If you are near a large, friendly DIY store it may be worth enquiring. Some of the plants have died of natural causes, some have been under watered, some over watered and some perfectly good ones are chucked out to make room for new stock. Tons go into skips every year from just one store. All good stuff if only for its compost value.
Keep up the good work.

They are so sweet and pretty!!! Here in New York, the bulbs are just breaking the surface of the ground. My daffodils will probably bloom by the end of the week though! As long as me moving them yesterday doesnt ruin them! Keep up with more pictures, I love them!!!
Yes, I know well about excitement in the garden. I find something, as a plant put up it first small fruit, I light up, my heart feel full of joy. I, then, go find someone about it.
I am not one to worry about what people thing. Gene
