Yesterday I turned 27 years old and I was treated to a surprise trip to Picton Castle in the morning. The day was a little overcast and rain was threatening but that didn’t dampen my spirits and I had the best day!
We walked around the vintage lawnmower and quilt exhibitions (something for both of us!) and stopped for lunch in the restaurant before heading off to find the walled garden. There wasn’t any vegetables growing there but it was still beautiful, unfortunately the old greenhouse had been destroyed back in the 1950’s but the footings remained.
After the walled gardens we went on the bluebell walk, a few weeks early as there weren’t many bluebells but the blossoms on the trees were absolutely stunning! A quick peek at the castle before heading home, a perfect morning.

Happy birthday! What a wonderful surpirse visit and a beautiful castle and grounds. It reminds me a bif of elvaston Castle grounds, near Derby where I used to work. Have a wonderful time in Wales.
It looks lovely there! It sounds like you both had a great time there - and Happy Belated Birthday!

Happy Belated Birthday Katie!!
Some of those mowers up on the wall look like something I pushed around when I was a kid.
Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday. I know this place from our holidays in Pembrokeshire, one of my favourite areas. Love the terracotta pots with the markers and all the rosemary.
