Where did Summer go and why did it vanish so quickly?! This year has gone in a blink of an eye, I just can’t believe it’s nearly October and Autumn is already here. Don’t get me wrong, I love everything about Autumn, the colours, the trees, wrapping up warm, cosy nights in… I’m just trying to wrap my head around how quickly Summer went.
I think the problem is we had all the nice weather earlier on in the year and that seems like a lifetime ago. The oddness in this years weather has also created less harvests for me, which I think is another reason why I can’t believe Summer has gone already. I just haven’t harvested as much as I did last year, the pumpkins and beans have been a complete disaster for me whereas the fruit, potatoes, brassicas and carrots have done brilliantly. We can’t have it all I guess?
I harvested a few more raspberries yesterday and I’ll be eating them with some icecream later, you just can’t beat homegrown raspberries and the canes have grown crazy this year! I also popped down to the allotment to finish filming the latest episode of ‘Katie’s Allotment’ over on Youtube. I have been really terrible with my videos this year and I do apologise, both my buisiness and personal life have been a tad busy and I’ve struggled to find time to get up the allotment and hit the record button. The thing with filming is that you spend half the time faffing about with setting the camera up when you should really be weeding. I often find myself going to do a job on the plot to only stop myself and say ‘Oh no I’ll record doing that later’, and then end up not doing the very same job until a couple of weeks down the line! I do enjoy it none the less, and I promise to try and upload more, it’s just noone wants to see me weeding all the time do they?
Happy Autumn equinox everyone x

The raspberries are looking yummi! Is it an autumn sort? Don’t feel any pressure about filming. If you don’t have the time I’m sure everyone will understand.
They are an autumn variety called Autumn Bliss Thank you Pia, I’m off to Wales again very soon so I’ll try and do a little video
Happy autumn Equinox, I totally forgot it this year.!
It’s a lovely record of your allotment to have it on video. I feel the same about getting my camera out, I like to keep a record.
Love your raspberries, I garden in Brisbane, Australia and over at the allotments we have native raspberries growing in gay abandon - but they have savage spikes. only pick them wearing long sleeves!
That is true and I love being able to look back, otherwise I would just forget I’m afraid! Wild raspberries sound divine! Be careful though
