We decided to go for a little Sunday drive yesterday to a garden centre not far from us, I had never visited this one before but it has instantly become one of my favourites… I’m becoming a garden centre fanatic!
Wyevale garden centre is a large group of centres but our local one is a 15 minute drive away in Fair Oak, Eastleigh. There’s also an Aquatic centre onsite which sells lots of lovely pond plants and there is a craft shop in an old barn there too! Unfirtunately we got there a little too late in the day to look around these shops but I’m pretty sure I’ll be visiting again soon.
They have a great selection of plants and I fell in love with so many flowers here. One in particular caught my eye and it was called Cirsium rivulare Atropurpureum, it’s a perennial flower, looks a little like a thistle and grows to 1.2m in height. They sell lots of vegetable plug plants and herbs too, as well as pots, statues, supports and everything you could possibly need!
We had a little look around outside before heading to the ‘Kitchen Garden’ cafe for a cup of tea (it’s a must when you visit a garden centre!)
Inside they have a small selection of seeds including a range of Sarah Raven seeds and Eden Project seeds too. I’ve never seen any Sarah Raven seeds in a shop before so it was lovely having a good look without staring at a computer screen. There’s tools, furniture, wildlife houses, bulbs, gifts and books, it pretty much is a gardeners heaven!
Surprisingly enough I only left with one packet of flower seeds! But no doubt I’ll be back for that Cirsium rivulare Atropurpureum, I just can’t stop thinking about how pretty it was..

I absolutely love Wyvale Garden Centres - we don’t really have any independent ones near us, but it’s such a good job our local one is 40 minutes away (though I have to drive past it everyday to and from work and I have to stop myself from driving in on the way home each day). Those flowers are so nice - you’ll definitely have to go back and get them haha! I love their garden club too! So many good offers and points 🙂
