The greenhouse is starting to get pretty full, we are running out of places to put the seed trays and the cold frame is jam packed too! It seems that April has started in full growing swing and I couldn’t be happier. All the seeds have started to show their little heads and they are popping up left right and centre. I am so glad that we got the greenhouse, it’s given me the space and freedom to grow more healthier plants and plus I really can’t imagine all these trays fitting inside the house on the windowsills!
This year I am growing more flowers and the green house is full to the brim with Scabiosa, Gypsophila, Cosmos, Dill, Malope, Dianthus, Sweet peas, Linara Maroccana, Sunflowers, Poppies, Ox-eye daisy, Calendula, Eryngium alpinum, Daucus carota, Lagurus ovatus, Chives and Borage! Phew, that was a mouth full!
There’s also red cabbage, Munchkin pumpkins, giant pumpkins, Swiss chard and Globe artichokes growing happily in the greenhouse, with plenty more seeds to sow soon. To keep track of all this growing and germinating business I am writing all the notes down in my new Moleskine gardening journal which I am in love with. I will give it a quick review very soon but I really couldn’t recommend it enough, it has everything you need to keep a record of your garden or allotment and so far it is the best journal I have purchased. There are dividers down the side where you can record garden visits, tools, plans, plants, a garden log and the bonus of adding four of your own tabs too. Plus there is a pocket at the back and stickers too! It’s been ever so handy and I’ve been busy writing down each variety of vegetable and flowers that I’m growing and filling in each page with sowing and germination dates, dimensions, uses and problems etc. It’s especially useful if you are like me and growing far too much to remember them all!

Great read. My greenhouse is starting to fill as well. You’re early with the pumpkins though, hope they are OK.
Oh I love seeing new seedlings, so exciting! How are your linara maroccana doing? I haven’t seen anyone else growing them and mine are the tiniest little seedlings, I’m a little worried about them!
Hi Katie. Just found you on Instagram which led me here. Already a fan! Just wanted to say I *think* I have that same moleskin and I just love it too! Love having a handy reference/record and it seems really durable. I bought one for my sister in law too for Christmas, just to spread the love around.
Besides that though, I’m fairly new to gardening and I’m intrigued by the green potting/equipment tray in your photos…. I haven’t seen anything like it before. Can I ask; Do you use it a lot? Where did you find it?
Thanks!
Hello Jackie! The moleskine is great isn’t it? I love a good notebook and you just can’t beat this for a garden journal, it has everything you need doesn’t it? I brought one for my Dad too but he hasn’t written in it.. Maybe I could use it next year? 🙂
That green potting tray was brought at a garden centre for £4.99 and I’ve seen them in a few garden centres that we’ve visited. You can buy them online too I think. It stays in the greenhouse and I use it all the time! It’s just so handy at keeping all the compost inside so you don’t waste any.
