Spring is officially here, the birds are singing, the sun is shining and Gardener’s World is back on our television screens! I decided to spend the whole of Saturday up the allotment pottering around and I couldn’t have picked better weather. The Hollyhock, Foxglove, Verbena and Delphinium which I brought from the local garden centre have all been planted out in the new flower bed. I’ve placed them at the far back so they can all add some much needed height to the patch, the rest will be filled with flowers which I’ll be growing at home from seed. The bee’s and butterflies are sure going to be in their element this year!
Things are starting to show signs of life now and the tulips in the trough have all popped up from below the soil. I just can’t wait to see them all bloom, all 54 of them! The black currant bushes are also starting to bud and there’s fresh buds on the rose bushes too, what with the broad beans and garlic busy growing the plot will soon be looking lush and green in no time.

Your tulips look so organised, I’m rather envious as I love tulips - please do show us when they come into flower.
Love seeing your allotment. I live in western New York state by Lake Ontario and we are still buried in snow, can’t even see my rose bushes, they are under a huge pile of snow. I am experiencing spring through your pictures, what lovely flower beds you will have.
Don’t know what it is like where you are Katy, but in the northern US, Spring brought wet earth, brisk air and clear skies. The warm sunshine, cool air and smell of muddy earth was heavenly. I suppose that is what 15c is like. Idylls of the Gardener, eh?
