I’m lucky enough to only live a 10 minute walk away from the allotment, which means it only takes me 5 minutes to cycle there on my bicycle. Although it would be absolutely amazing to have a vegetable patch right in the back garden, nothing beats a little cycle ride in the sunshine to go and fetch some radishes for a lunchtime treat.
The weather has just been glorious and it really feels like Summer is just around the corner. The allotment is starting to fill up, flowers are starting to bloom and the radishes are coming up thick and fast! I sowed three rows, each a different variety, back in April and harvested my first bunch of them last week. They were delicious and I was instantly hooked on homegrown radishes, in fact I was pretty much obsessed!
I had to pop to the post office so I thought I would carry on up the allotment and pick some more radishes to have for lunch. I had only thinned them out a week ago but there were lots of large radishes ready for harvesting, I picked a few of each variety and headed back home for a mini ploughmans. I am so glad that I decided to grow some radish in the old tank, they are my first harvest from the plot this year and I couldn’t be happier. Although I’m going to make sure I sow in better successions next month so I’m not completely over run!
P.S We’re heading to the Kent Garden Show in Detling this afternoon to set up shop. We’ll be selling there from the 28th to the 30th of May so pop by and say hello 🙂

So lovely to see you and your Dad today Katie, it was wonderful to see how busy you were, it looked like one of the customers was going to buy the whole shop - so glad we got our bits before you sold out. Good luck with the rest of the shows this summer.
