Can you believe it’s been a whole 8 months since I last sat down to write a blog post? As we haven’t been working on the allotment I feel like there hasn’t been anything to share with you garden wise. I was hoping to beable to tell you all the news that we had moved house by now but I’m afraid that isn’t the case…
We made the decision early this year to put a hold on the allotment as we were moving house and hoping to be moved by the Summer. We thought it would be silly to work so hard on the allotment to then not beable to harvest from it as we wouldn’t be in the village anymore. In fact we were hoping to move to Wales a whopping 200 miles away! We found the dream house, lost out on the winning bid, then a month later got a phone call to say that it was ours if we wanted it after all. The house market is extremely busy at the moment and we spent the next 5 months waiting for surveys, solicitors and various other queues. Then the morning we were going to sign the contract we got a telephone call to say that the dream house was no longer ours, they had decided to go with a higher bidder… We were absolutely devastated, to be so close after going through all that stress and now we find ourselves back at square one.
To make matters worse we gave in our allotment notice last month as our moving date loomed closer. I sold my little purple shed and we put a close on that chapter to get ready for our next adventure on our little smallholding. Of course that dream is still there and we are continuing to look for a property to match our needs, it just means that any content from me will be very limited. I just wanted to take the time to give a little update and to let you all know that we’re still here, we’re still working hard on the shop and we have big plans for the blog and Youtube videos when we do move. I just hope for my sanity we find somewhere soon, my hands have been out of the soil for far too long and I miss it so much!
Other then that we are all well, a little stressed but well and healthy. Teddy has settled in nicely, he’s a cheeky one but I adore him and we’re still working very hard on his training (especially his people skills, he’s a proper lockdown pup!) It seems my lack of allotment photos have been replaced by a million photos of Ted, so here is one of him to make up for the lack of garden content.
I hope you are all well x

I miss your craft videos and do apple a new home is found quickly 😊
I also miss your allotment stories and videos. Best of luck to you and your family in your happy place search. It will happen when it’s supposed so, I firmly believe that. I fully understand the gardener’s itch to get out there! Here in Toronto, ON it’s seedling transplanting time. Still cold and snow forecast for Easter weekend. Keep up the good work and looking forward to even a few short notes from you – October 2021 was a long, long time ago, so perhaps time for an update?? Thanks so much!
Hi Katie,
I only just discovered your blog yesterday and only read this post. I’m so sorry to hear what you’ve all been through. It’s so not fair that gazumping is legal – moving house is stressful enough. Hopefully, and I will keep all my fingers crossed, you will find a better house and with better dealings.
After a few years of being on a waiting list ( I had honestly thought the council had forgotten about my application), I have been offered an allotment. It’s completely bare apart from one spring onion left over from the previous tenants, an overgrown rosemary bush and an ants nest. I went on Pinterest to look for inspiration and found Lavender and Leeks and I just wanted to say, thank you for the care and time you took to create it all. It’s been a dreamy exploration and has certainly inspired me.
