We love rhubarb in this family so it only seemed fit to have a special raised bed over on my Dads plot with 5 crowns planted inside it. Not forgetting my two rhubarb crowns which were divided from my Dad’s last year, they are still rather small so I won’t be picking any from them this year but hopefully I’ll get a harvest from them next time round. Over on Plot 2B however is the mother load of rhubarb ready for picking, we’ve made a few crumbles with it so it was my job yesterday to test out a few more recipes. My Dad was out for the day so I was given special permission to harvest some of the rhubarb from his plot, it was Fathers day and I had plans to make him a special rhubarb crumble cake (head on over to the recipes to find it, it’s delicious!)
I picked quite a few large stalks, leaving the smaller ones to fatten up a little more, before cutting the foliage off and putting the leaves on the compost heap. My handy harvesting bag was put to use as I headed over to my plot to harvest some broad beans. I couldn’t resist a quick cup of tea in the potting shed before heading home for my baking session!
