I tasted radish for the first time earlier this year whilst I was away in Wales, served as a mini ploughmans with cheese and I fell in love… It was delicious and I just had to grow my own! After planning my allotment out I decided to use up the empty space at the end of the path by placing a container to grow radish in. This way I could produce an succession of sowing’s to keep me going throughout the year, which simply means more radish for me to eat.
This old galvanised tank was due to go on our shop for sale but I moved it up to the allotment and it fit perfectly, it had to stay! This week I managed to sow three rows of radish in the tank and each row is a different variety, French Breakfast 3, Sparkler 3 and Scarlet Globe. Ideally I would have liked to have sown them earlier but hopefully I’ll have a crop soon.. I can’t wait!
