I love my shed, it’s official! Every allotment needs a shed and I for one wouldn’t be without mine. It’s especially handy for escaping those rain showers, stores all my essential gardening tools and accessories which I would otherwise forget to take to the allotment with me everytime.. and it sure looks pretty too.
The paint is rather aptly called ‘Lavender’ and is by Cuprinol, it actually needs another coat before Winter sets in and I have some galvanised corrugated roofing sheets that need attaching to the roof too. It also needs a proper handle and the curtains have faded, but I love it none the less.
Inside is a vintage 1950’s kitchen cabinet, a bargain from Ebay which stores books, terracotta pots, seed packets, fertilisers, twine and the all important tea and biscuits! There’s a vintage cooker sitting next to the cabinet, it has two gas rings, a grill and a small oven all run on gas. I am a complete tea addict and there’s nothing better than popping the kettle on and sipping on a nice hot mug of tea in between weeding chores. There’s a battery powered lantern hanging up in the pitched roof and some pretty pictures on one side of the wall, plus there’s some bunting too, because everyone needs bunting hanging somewhere!
There are two folding chairs and just about enough room for two people to sit inside when it’s really pouring with rain outside. It’s 6 foot by 4 foot big and I would love it if it was a tad bigger, maybe room for a little day bed in fact, but it does the job and sure makes me happy too!
