Some of you may have noticed that special video was uploaded last week and I’m pleased to say that the allotment kitchen is officially back open for business! I’ve missed filming all the videos over on the Youtube channel but the series I was missing the most just so happened to be the cookery ones. One of the reasons for owning an allotment is the joy of growing your own fruit and vegetables and being able to cook and feed yourself and family members. So it only seemed right to share my joy of growing and cooking with you all right in my little purple shed, you can’t get much fresher then that after all. Now I’ll admit I’m no chef but I do love my food and if I can inspire a few of you to try new things then I’m happy!
I recently cooked a quick and simple breakfast in the shed consisting of baked eggs, cream, chorizo and swiss chard. The recipe can be found in written form here: http://www.lavenderandleeks.co.uk/the-allotment-kitchen-2/ and on Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi75oq2mXAU&t=25s.
The newest video was uploaded today and I’ve been busy roasting one of my tiny Munchkin Pumpkins in the oven with chorizo, cream and kale. It’s the perfect light snack or starter and I just so happened to enjoy it up the allotment as a lunchtime treat! The recipe can be found in written form here: http://www.lavenderandleeks.co.uk/munchkin-pumpkins-galore/ and on Youtube here: https://youtu.be/esKyTLmUgmY
I really hope you love the Allotment Kitchen series as much as I love filming them and I do hope you find time to try out some of the recipes. I have loads more cooking videos planned this Winter and can’t wait to get filming, but for now I’m off to Wales for a week or two to celebrate a special someone’s birthday… But don’t worry, it’s been a super busy weekend so I have lots of blog posts lined up and there’s 4 new videos waiting to be edited, you can’t get rid of me that easy!
Have a lovely Monday everyone x
