One of the main things I wanted to do this year was to save my own vegetable and flower seeds. Something so simple and easy could save me at least £30 which is what I spent last year on new seed packets.
Quite luckily for me the Swiss chard bolted and went to seed whilst I was away in Wales the first time round. So I decided to leave a few of the plants at back of the row to do the job of providing me with seeds for next year. I absolutely love Swiss chard so I could do with all the seeds I can get! I’ve also left a few climbing French beans on the plants to go to seed, I won’t be getting any more from my two rows and Autumn is pressing in quick. The poppies and sunflowers have all produced lovely seed heads now and the sunflowers are drying off in the shed. I’ll be saving some of the seeds for planting next year but the rest can go to the birds. Now all I have to do is make sure I collect seeds from all the other flowers and vegetables that are still growing!
