I’m going to start the first blog of 2021 off by wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and I’m sending wishes that this new year brings good health and happiness to everyone.
2020 was a crazy whirlwind and for us it was extrememly busy with online sales which we are forever thankful for. Whilst we were busy working the poor allotment got a little neglected, then of course Teddy came into my life and ever since then my love of gardening went right out the window as I had no time (or motivation) to visit the plot. However, I’m pleased to say that has recently changed and my love for the plot has been reignited yet again!
Me and my Dad made plans to spend a couple of hours up the allotment last Sunday to do a bit of tidying and it was just what the doctor ordered. I had the BEST time up there and it felt so nice getting my hands dirty again. It was far too wet to dig so instead we bagged up the big pile of weeds, removed the unused brassica netting to store it away, pulled up the leek failures and generally gave the plot a tidy. We even made time to sit and enjoy a cup of tea (chamomile for me!) whilst we chatted about the allotment and the year ahead.
I know this time of the year is always a bit of a downer and for the past couple of year’s I struggled to find inspiration and motivation, put that with being a self employmed workaholic and it’s a recipe for disaster… Last weekend I felt like the old me was back, the girl that used to spend every day up her allotment when she first got it 6 years ago. The girl that was inspired by nature and wanted to inspire others. It felt good and I hope she decides to stay forever…
Next on my to-do list is to sit down in the evenings and plan the allotment for 2021 and I am so excited about it!

Glad you feel refreshed and got your allotment mojo back. Enjoy the upcoming seasons. You have certainly inspired me and my plans for my allotment. Thank you x
Thank you Dawn and I hope you have a wonderful year. Planning is one of my favourite things to do 🙂
I enjoy your posts and vlogs so much! Keep up the good work they inspire me to be a better gardener! Holly
Thank you so much Holly, this means so much to me and inspires me to keep going with the blog and videos etc!
Lovely cabled warm hats and teamwork, it’s a pleasure to see in this crazy world just now. An uplifting blog with so much information too. If only more young people would put their phones down and discover the joys of growing their own food, picking beautiful bunches of flowers they had actually grown, there would be so many happier teens. Maybe during this ‘lockdown’ times these pleasures will be newly discovered as ‘going out’ is not possible.
Just love this website and Katies instagram with Lavender and loops too, encouraging me to return to my knitting hobby.
Such a stable amazing family.
Thank you for this comment Barbara, yet again you are too kind to me and I appreciate every word! I think Covid is going to change so many peoples lives for the better as they learn to appreciate the small and simple things. I hope you are enjoying your knitting and I’m glad you’ve managed to pick it up again. There’s nothing better during these cold dark days then to sit inside and knit x
