I’m still a little bit in shock if I’m honest… So much has changed in the past week, the world has been turned upside down and we are living in a scary world due to Covid-19. Health has the upmost importance here but everyone’s lives will change this year, it’s going to be a struggle but we’re in this together!
Firstly, we hope you, your friends and family are all well and continue to keep your health during these hard times. Look after each other, be kind and remember to stay safe.
Secondly, as a small business we just wanted to take the time to update you and notify you of our future plans regarding our shop. Last week the RHS cancelled all their garden shows up until the 30th of June and rightly so, protecting people and keeping everyone safe is so important but I couldn’t help but shed a tear. Our business relies heavily on our garden show sales and the majority of our income comes from visiting over 14 of those shows a year. Not only will our business struggle this year but we are going to miss that much needed interaction between us, our friends and our customers. We will miss seeing you all so terribly!
We have spent all our time (and money) over Autumn and Winter buying up vintage products to take with us to all these shows, our storage units are full to the brim with stock so there’s only one thing to do… Over the next few weeks we are going to focus our attention on the online shop. All the stock we have been saving for the garden shows will be photographed and listed on the website alongside our handmade metal work so we can try and continue selling as best as we can.
Luckily for us we are a family business consisting of myself and my Dad so we are able to continue working side by side at home. We will ensure the appropriate safety and hygiene measures have been taken when handling the products and packing the orders as we take the health of our customers very seriously. Our main courier MyHermes have announced that their delivery service will continue as normal and they are now offering a ‘no contact’ service in the best interest of their staff and customers.
Together we can get through this!
Last but not least… along with a lot of you we are going to find ourselves with a little bit more time on our hands and I am eager to make the most of it. From April to September we are usually so busy with the garden shows that we don’t have enough time for anything else, which of course will change this year. We are hoping to create more videos for Youtube, continue making our new Podcasts, more Blog posts, more sharing on social media and basically just more of everything!
It’s always been a dream of mine to have more time to focus on this side of the business, to be able to share my journey with you and hopefully inspire others to grow their own and get outside. Lately I’ve been thinking of setting up a Patreon page to help me make this endeavor a success and ultimately a long term business. Ideally I would love to spend all my time creating content and possibly moving the venture to Wales, but it’s early days yet so we’ll see how it goes!
I just want to leave this post with a big thank you for all the love and support you’ve given us over the year, we appreciate it all so much and hope that we can continue for many many years to come!
Remember to stay safe and help each other, our thoughts are with you all x
