Like I’ve said in a previous post, this was my first Halloween since owning my allotment that I haven’t had a homegrown pumpkin and it felt a little bit odd. It was soon rectified by a visit to a local pick your own farm with the family and I chose my own little pumpkin with the longest stalk. The same pumpkin has traveled all the way to Wales with me in my car since I knew that I was going to spend Halloween here… and you can’t have Halloween without a pumpkin!
We ended a perfect day yesterday by carving our pumpkin, using the long stalk as the old witches nose and cutting out the eyes and mouth. Charles helped to carve out the mouth and scraped off the skin on the teeth and eyebrows which improved the overall look (plus he had to glue the stalk back on after it had snapped off during the car ride to Wales!) It was his first time carving a pumpkin but I think he secretly had fun. I was super happy with how the old witch turned out anyway and even Rex was a little bit scared of it!
Happy Halloween everyone x
