So I was up the allotment on watering duties last night and I thought I would get started on tidying the pond area. Here’s a quick warning… If you create a pond in your allotment or garden then be prepared to waste hours watching the frogs jumping around!
I was busy weeding around the pond and planting a few annuals and I kept noticing all the frogs enjoying pond life. There must have been 7 counted at one time! I am so glad that they seem to be enjoying the wildlife area on Plot 15c, the pond needs a good clean but I’m worried that I will scare the frogs away. They seem to be thriving amongst the over grown water forget me not and loving the oxygenating plant that is covering the water. If only my pond was bigger…
One frog even jumped out of the pond and sat on the stepping stone catching flies, I watched him for over half an hour!
Another addition to the pond is the ‘Blue Flag’ water iris that has just bloomed for the first time. I planted it in the pond last Summer and since then it was bulking up perfectly, only the other day I noticed a few buds forming and then last night I was greeted with this beautiful Iris which looks so pretty sitting amongst the water forget me not.
The perfect way to end the day!
